Japanese Sharpness, Western Robustness.

      • DESCRIPTION

Just like the common Santoku (三徳包丁), the Bunka has a tall and flat blade profile; however, their blade tips are shaped very differently. Bunka knives are recognisable from their “reverse Tanto” profile, also called “K-tip”, which makes them more precise than a classic rounded blade.

      CHARACTERISTICS

      Rediscover Cooking

Rediscover the art of cooking with KOTAI knives. Experience the sharpness and precision of handcrafted blades made from the finest materials. Elevate your culinary creations to new heights with the perfect combination of tradition and modern innovation.

      Lasting Performance

440C has more than 2x the carbon content than other premium steels. The blade, heat treated to HRC 60 +/-1 hardness, keeps its razor-sharp edge cut after cut.

      Ergonomically Engineered

The perfect weight distribution and hand-polished ebony handle have been designed for you to cut effortlessly through the toughest food without compromising on comfort.

The Bunka Santoku can perform versatile functions and is the favorite go-to knife of many Japanese chefs.

In fact, in most fine restaurants only the head chef is allowed to use it, therefore the Bunka Santoku (a shorter version of the Kiritsuke) is often considered to be a symbol of expertise and status.

KOTAI’s Bunka Santoku is made of Japanese 440C, a premium steel that balances a high carbon content for hardness, sharpness and edge retention with the perfect amount of chromium to prevent corrosion.

      Demasiado caro

      Expensive but extremely sharp knife

As an avid home cook, I am always on the lookout for the perfect knife to add to my collection. When I ordered the Bunka Santoku Knife, I had high expectations, and I am happy to say that it did not disappoint.
The first thing I noticed about this knife is the quality of the blade. The high-carbon Japanese 440C stainless steel blade is incredibly sharp and holds its edge well. This makes it a joy to use in the kitchen, as it effortlessly cuts through everything from meat to vegetables. I have used it to cut everything from delicate herbs to tough root vegetables, and it has performed admirably in every situation.
Another great feature of this knife is its ergonomic design. The ebony handle is comfortable to hold and provides a good grip, even when your hands are wet. This is important because it helps to prevent accidents in the kitchen and allows you to put power through the blade without slipping.
One other thing that I want to mention is the presentation. The Bunka Santoku Knife comes in a beautiful wooden box that makes it a great gift for the home cook in your life. The box is sturdy and well-made, so you can use it to store the knife when it's not in use.
Overall, I am delighted with my purchase of the Bunka Santoku Knife. It is a high-quality knife that is built to last, and it has quickly become one of my go-to tools in the kitchen. If you're looking for a versatile, reliable knife that can handle a variety of cutting tasks, then I highly recommend this one.

      Chops through anything

Very very sharp knife! Beautiful looking though and cuts through almost anything. Really tough and great quality

      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This knife is made of 440C steel from Japan. 440C is a high-carbon stainless steel, meaning that it combines the property of high-carbon steel (very hard due to the high carbon content of 0.95%+ and the vacuum heat treatment, therefore very sharp and able to keep its edge for much longer than other steels) and stainless steel (ability to resist corrosion and stains). So the blade will not rust, but you have to care for it properly by washing it with soapy water and drying it quickly after using it.

Do not put it in the dishwasher or leave it to soak in the sink.

A “cheap” knife will end up costing you more in the long run, because it can break or turn dull. Low quality steel will not keep a sharp edge no matter how many hours you waste on sharpening, and you will end up having to buy a new knife every year or so.

There are plenty of “cheap” knives that cannot perform to decent standards and very few options for chefs who are passionate about cooking, need the right tools to assist them in their career or hobby but are not willing to overspend on a brand name.
